Mogadishu, December 24, 2022; The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud took part in an event commemorating the 79th anniversary of the Somali Police Force and addressed the efforts by the government to strengthen the security forces and advancing their improvements in the field, with the president conveying that every commander will be held accountable for there responsibilities.
Speaking to the senior officers, commanders and the heads of various departments within the Somali Police Force, the president emphasized on the importance of upholding the rules and guidelines of the officers and how they’re the backbone in the fight against drugs and corruption, which he stated as challenges to state-security.
“I’m advising the commanders of the Somali Police Force to take a firm stance against officers that use illicit substances. It’s an enemy that stands in the way of an officer carrying out his duties and we can not allow the police force to be among those that use illegal substances”
President Hassan Sheikh furthermore informed the police force on the need to abide by the guidelines to carry out their respective duties, to safeguard their well-being and that of their fellow countrymen, with the president adding on that every officer will be held to account if they’re unable to fulfill the duties bestowed upon.
Ministers from the Federal Government of Somalia, Members of Parliament, the commander of the Somali Police Force, Brigadier General Gaas Abdi Mohamed, commanders and officials from the various departments within the Somali Police Force took part in the commemorative event.
