PRESIDENT HASSAN SHEIKH PARTICIPATES IN A SUMMIT FOCUSING ON THE STABILIZATION & ADVANCEMENT OF THE REGION

Washington DC, December 13, 2022; The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud participated in a summit between African leaders and the United States that focuses on security in the region and collaborating on humanitarian affairs with the Security of State and the Secretary of Defense from the United States.

The president of Djibouti H.E. Ismail Omar Gueleh and the president of Niger H.E. Mohamed Bazoum we’re in attendance for the meeting and commended the Somali National Army and the gains that they’ve made in the Middle Shabelle and Hiiraan region and emphasized the threats that terrorists pose to the prosperity and security of the continent.

The president of the republic presented the devastating problems that drought has brought upon the Somali people and how climate change is a key factor and furthermore commended the joint plans to tackle these issues, with the Somali government putting a particular focus on the environment and ever-so changing climate related conditions in the country.

Furthermore, the heads of state, reaffirmed their support for the plans agreed upon at the U.S.-African Leaders Summit, in particular standing with the government of Somalia and its agenda for prosperity, moving forward based on peaceful coexistence with neighbors, collaboration, economic viability and security.
