President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Meets with Danish Representatives to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation and Discuss Joint UN Security Council Efforts

His Excellency President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held a meeting today with Ms. Christina Markus Lassen, the Danish Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Mr. Steen Sonne Andersen, the Danish Ambassador to Somalia, and Mr. Ketil Iversen Karlsen, Director for Africa, Development Policy & Financing. They discussed ways to strengthen the cooperative relationship between the two countries, particularly in the areas of security, climate change, and development.

They also explored potential collaboration as both Somalia and Denmark are set to become non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council. Furthermore, the discussions focused on state-building efforts in Somalia, emphasizing that the pursuit of direct elections is essential to ensuring Somali citizens’ rights.
