Washington DC, December 15, 2022; The President of The Federal Republic of Somalia H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud participated in the U.S.-Africa Summit and met with his counterparts, the president of Uganda H.E. Yoweri Museveni and Kenya’s president H.E. William Ruto.
The President informed his Ugandan and Kenyan counterparts about the current situation in Somalia and the fight against terrorism, with the president highlighting the successful gains of the Somali National Army in coordination with the local populace where the terrorists Al-Shabaab have embedded themselves.
On their end, the presidents of Uganda and Kenya commended the operations liberating districts in Middle Shabelle and Hiiraan, which showed the determination and power of the government and people of Somalia to eradicate terrorism and have emphasized strengthening their continued support for the Somali government.
Furthermore, President Yoweri Museveni and President William Ruto have bolstered their respective nations historical relationship with Somalia and the its significance for peace in the region and have highlighted the importance of fulfilling the plans of the U.S.-Africa Summit, with the Somali Government bringing fourth plans addressing climate change, peaceful relations with neighbors, security on the African continent, emergency relief responses and the fight against terrorism.
