PRESIDENT HASSAN SHEIKH MEETS WITH PRESIDENT ERDOGAN IN ANKARA

H.E. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud paid an official working visit to the brotherly Republic of Türkiye where he held a productive meeting with his counterpart, H.E. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara.

During their meeting, the two leaders engaged in constructive discussions aimed at deepening the historic and strategic partnership between Somalia and Türkiye, particularly in the areas of security, defence, and counterterrorism.

President Hassan Sheikh and President Erdogan reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening joint efforts in the fight against terrorism, with a focus on eliminating the threat posed by the Khawarij and other extremist groups undermining peace and stability in Somalia and the wider region.

The two Heads of State also reviewed existing development cooperation and reiterated their mutual desire to expand collaboration across critical sectors, including infrastructure, education, health, and economic development.

The Federal Republic of Somalia and the Republic of Türkiye continue to enjoy longstanding, brotherly relations anchored in mutual respect, shared interests, and a joint vision for sustainable peace and prosperity.
