PRESIDENT HASSAN SHEIKH MOHAMUD VISITS DJIBOUTI

President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held a fruitful meeting with his counterpart, H.E. Ismail Omar Guelleh, President of the Republic of Djibouti, at the Presidential Palace in Djibouti City.

The two Heads of State exchanged views on advancing the strategic and historic partnership between the two brotherly nations, and deepening cooperation across a wide range of areas, including regional security, counterterrorism, and Djibouti’s support for Somalia’s ongoing stabilization process and state-building efforts.

They also addressed the humanitarian impact of recurrent droughts in Somalia, with a specific focus on the situation in the Awdal region. President Hassan Sheikh called on Djibouti’s critical engagement in the provision of humanitarian assistance to vulnerable Somali communities affected by the drought.

In their exchange, both leaders reaffirmed the importance of sustained dialogue, coordinated action, and shared responsibility in addressing the challenges facing the Horn of Africa. They underscored the value of regular consultations to promote regional prosperity stability.

Upon concluding their bilateral meeting, the two Presidents reiterated that the peace, unity, and progress of Somalia are essential pillars for the broader stability and prosperity of the region.
