President Farmajo tours flood hit areas, calls for more Emergency efforts

H.E President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has paid an emergency visit to the flood-hit areas of Beledweyne to express solidarity with the communities affected by floods.

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has at the same time issued instructions to state agencies concerned to develop a natural disaster prevention plan and provide a lasting solution to the recurrent problems to evade repeated loss of lives and property of our citizens. The President acknowledged the efforts of the National Emergency Committee, a multi-agency team tasked with coordinating rescue and relief efforts on behalf of the government.

The pain and suffering from the recurrent floods is one we all share with our citizens, and to express our togetherness, I join you to let you know that you’re not alone. May Allah shower his mercy upon all our affected families as we seek lasting measures in the long term.

H.E President Farmajo commended the residents and the area leadership for their unity and cooperation towards the ongoing relief efforts. The President also thanked friends and partners of Somalia including governments for their urgent response to the distress alert, especially the government and the people Djibouti.

Finally, President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has encouraged continuity of the widespread co-operation and humanitarian efforts initiated by the public in various cities across the country, communities, and workplaces, to come to the aid of their fellow brothers and sisters in flood-hit areas.
